Must READ **Cruel world indeed**TRUE STORY ( Mrs Rebecca narrates)17/01/13 will remain an unforgettable memory in my life..likeevery other nights, I went to bed and said good nyt to my Son(22yrs) and my daughter (18yrs) and we all slept.At about 3:55am on the above date, unknown gunmen brokeinto our apartments to rob but unfortunately there wasnothing they could lay hand on. they asked my son to get uppointing gun @ him and asked my daughter to lie facing theceline and she did as they told her.Shockingly they asked my son to have sex with his sister rightin front of them and that if they r not impress, He will extendthat generosity to His mother (Me)that they are not in themood for rape..that this the price we will pay else he will be adead person...He was shocked and after a while He asked them to shoothim that he cannot do it that even if he do it and they leave,that he will take his life in less than a day cos he can't livewith such memory. They got angryand one asked the other toshoot him lets go and He randomly shot my son and he fell inthe pool of his own blood and they left...All I knew is that He was alive till we got to the hospital andafter several hours of medics on him,He went into COMA and to this day He hasn't said a word yetjust breathing..Collins, I don't want to lose my only Son.. My daughter has been crying since that incidence.Please pray so that my only son will come back alive for me because am just a widow and they are what I have always livedfor...My Hope is in God.

CARE

TODAY'S LIFE LESSON:
A mouse looked through the crack in the wall
to see the farmer and
his wife open a package.'
“What food might this contain?” the mouse
wondered. He was
devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.
Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse
proclaimed the warning: “There
is mousetrap in the house! There is a
mousetrap in the house!”
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her
head and said “Mr.
Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you,
but it is of no
consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by
it.”
The mouse turned to the pig and told him
“There is a mousetrap in
the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!”
The pig sympathized,
but said “I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but
there is nothing I can do
about it but pray. Be assured you are in my
prayers.”
The mouse turned to the cow and said “There is
a mousetrap in the

cow said “Wow, Mr.
Mouse. I’m sorry for you, but it’s no skin off
my nose.”
o, the mouse returned to the house, head down
and dejected, to face
the farmer’s mousetrap alone.
That very night a sound was heard throughout
the house – like the
sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The
farmer’s wife rushed to
see what was caught. In the darkness, she did
not see it was a
venomous snake whose tail the trap had
caught. The snake bit the
farmer’s wife.
The farmer rushed her to the hospital and she
returned home with a
fever.
Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh
chicken soup, so the
farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the
soup’s main
ingredient.
But his wife’s sickness continued,so friends and
neighbors came to
sit with her around the clock. To feed them,
the farmer butchered the
pig. The farmer’s wife did not get well; she
died. So many! people
came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow
slaughtered to provide
enough meat for all of them.
The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in
the wall with great
sadness.
So, the next time you hear someone is facing a
problem and think it
doesn’t concern you, remember: when one of
us is threatened, we are
all at risk. We are all involved in this journey
called life.

They came upon a storm, and the young lady

her father, What should I do?"He said "keep
driving".
Cars began to pull
over to the side, the storm was getting worse.
"What should I do." The young

her father replied.
On up a few feet, she noticed that
eighteen wheelers were also pulling
over.
She told her dad, "I must pull over, I can
barely
see
ahead. It is terrible, and everyone is pulling
over!"
Her father told her, "Don't give up,
just keep driving!"
Now the storm was terrible, but
she never stopped driving, and soon
she could see a little more clearly. After
a couple of miles she was again on
dry land, and the sun came out.
Her father said, "Now you can pull
over and get out."
She said "But why now?"
He said "When you get out,look
back at all the people that gave up and are
still in the storm, because you
never
gave up your storm is now over.
This is a testimony for anyone who is
going through "hard times".
Just because everyone else,even
the strongest, gives up.
You don't have to...if you keep going, soon
your
storm will be over and the sun will
shine upon your face again.
Because at the end of every tunnel,comes light.

HEALTHY FOODS FOR THE BRAIN

The old maxim “You are what you eat,”
turns out to be true. New research on so-
called “brain foods” shows that some
chemicals in the foods we eat go right to
our brain cells. Sounds pretty powerful.
But can food really make us more
intelligent, give us smarter kids, improve
memory, help us think more clearly, and
maybe even forestall those so-called
“senior moments,” or worse, dementia?
The answer is a qualified “yes.” Although
no one “miracle” food is going to boost
your brain power instantly, make your kid
a genius, or cure Alzheimer’s, regularly
adding certain foods to your diet will help
you function at your personal best, both
physically and mentally, throughout your
lifetime.
1. Berries
Berries are full of memory-boosting
nutrients. Here’s how they work: When we
talk about getting “rusty” at certain tasks,
we may not be far off. Oxidation, the
process that causes metal to rust, can also
damage brain cells. This oxidative stress as
it’s called, plays a part in many diseases
associated with aging from dementia and
Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s.
Getting beneficial anti-oxidative
compounds like vitamins C, E, beta-
carotene and other nutrients through food
may help prevent, or at least curtail, the
damage, because they can disarm
potentially cell-injuring free radicals
circulating throughout the system.
Research has shown that beneficial
chemicals called ellagatannis in
raspberries, strawberries and blueberries
are also found right in the hippocampus,
the brain’s memory control center. Talk
about a direct hit!
Blueberries also contain proanthocyanins,
which gravitate toward the striatum,
which is more closely related to spatial
memory. Scientists believe that that these
compounds may enhance the performance
of those parts of the brain, and indeed,
actual animal studies have substantiated
the evidence that they do improve
memory.

Oxidation is not the only process
associated with diseases of aging.
Inflammation also plays a big role in
everything from heart disease to dementia.
Cherries are nature’s own little anti-
inflammatory pills. They contain Cox 2
inhibitors similar to those found in pain
medications such as Vioxx and Celebrex,
but they also contain compounds called
polyphenols that keep platelets in the
blood from clumping together, so they
don’t produce undesirable side effects—
like heart attacks and strokes—which are
risks associated with the manufactured
drugs. Isn’t Mother Nature clever?
3. That old adage about “an apple a day”
is right on target. Turns out that apples
contain a group of chemicals that could
protect the brain from the type of damage
that triggers neurodegenerative diseases
like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. One of
those compounds, a flavonoid called
quercetin, has been shown to protect the
brain from oxidative injury in animal
studies.
Other chemicals such as phenolic acids
and different flavonoids protect the apple
itself against damage by bacteria, viruses
and fungi—and if they protect the fruit,
just imagine what they can do for us!
Studies suggest that eating apples not only
may help reduce the risk of cancer, but
diminish the risk of neurodegenerative
disorders too.
4. Curry
Turmeric, the yellow spice found in many
curries, contains curcumin, which also has
powerful anti-inflammatory and
antioxidant properties. It may even prove
useful in treating Alzheimer’s; one study
showed a reduction in beta amyloid
deposits, the plaques associated with the
disease, in the brains of animals fed
curcumin-enhanced food. In another
study, elderly people who ate curry often
or very often did better on tests of mental
performance than those who never or
rarely ate curry.

HEALTHY FOODS FOR THE BRAIN

The old maxim “You are what you eat,”
turns out to be true. New research on so-
called “brain foods” shows that some
chemicals in the foods we eat go right to
our brain cells. Sounds pretty powerful.
But can food really make us more
intelligent, give us smarter kids, improve
memory, help us think more clearly, and
maybe even forestall those so-called
“senior moments,” or worse, dementia?
The answer is a qualified “yes.” Although
no one “miracle” food is going to boost
your brain power instantly, make your kid
a genius, or cure Alzheimer’s, regularly
adding certain foods to your diet will help
you function at your personal best, both
physically and mentally, throughout your
lifetime.
1. Berries
Berries are full of memory-boosting
nutrients. Here’s how they work: When we
talk about getting “rusty” at certain tasks,
we may not be far off. Oxidation, the
process that causes metal to rust, can also
damage brain cells. This oxidative stress as
it’s called, plays a part in many diseases
associated with aging from dementia and
Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s.
Getting beneficial anti-oxidative
compounds like vitamins C, E, beta-
carotene and other nutrients through food
may help prevent, or at least curtail, the
damage, because they can disarm
potentially cell-injuring free radicals
circulating throughout the system.
Research has shown that beneficial
chemicals called ellagatannis in
raspberries, strawberries and blueberries
are also found right in the hippocampus,
the brain’s memory control center. Talk
about a direct hit!
Blueberries also contain proanthocyanins,
which gravitate toward the striatum,
which is more closely related to spatial
memory. Scientists believe that that these
compounds may enhance the performance
of those parts of the brain, and indeed,
actual animal studies have substantiated
the evidence that they do improve
memory.
2. Cherries
Oxidation is not the only process
associated with diseases of aging.
Inflammation also plays a big role in
everything from heart disease to dementia.
Cherries are nature’s own little anti-
inflammatory pills. They contain Cox 2
inhibitors similar to those found in pain
medications such as Vioxx and Celebrex,
but they also contain compounds called
polyphenols that keep platelets in the
blood from clumping together, so they
don’t produce undesirable side effects—
like heart attacks and strokes—which are
risks associated with the manufactured
drugs. Isn’t Mother Nature clever?
3. That old adage about “an apple a day”
is right on target. Turns out that apples
contain a group of chemicals that could
protect the brain from the type of damage
that triggers neurodegenerative diseases
like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. One of
those compounds, a flavonoid called
quercetin, has been shown to protect the
brain from oxidative injury in animal
studies.
Other chemicals such as phenolic acids
and different flavonoids protect the apple
itself against damage by bacteria, viruses
and fungi—and if they protect the fruit,
just imagine what they can do for us!
Studies suggest that eating apples not only
may help reduce the risk of cancer, but
diminish the risk of neurodegenerative
disorders too.
4. Curry
Turmeric, the yellow spice found in many
curries, contains curcumin, which also has
powerful anti-inflammatory and
antioxidant properties. It may even prove
useful in treating Alzheimer’s; one study
showed a reduction in beta amyloid
deposits, the plaques associated with the
disease, in the brains of animals fed
curcumin-enhanced food. In another
study, elderly people who ate curry often
or very often did better on tests of mental
performance than those who never or
rarely ate curry.
5. egg
The egg has gotten bad press because of
its cholesterol-rich yoke and the
associations between dietary cholesterol
and heart disease. However, that same
yolk contains one of the most important
nutrients for building better brains:
choline.
Getting adequate amounts of choline,
especially early in life—during fetal
development and early childhood—may
help us learn more readily and also help
us retain what we learn. What’s more,
sufficient choline intake early on may give

Tips

So often I hear women talk about the fact
that their husbands do not help around
the house and are oblivious to what they
do. Today I would like to submit to you
that although I do not live with Mr.
Perfect, I do recognize his positive traits
and it makes a difference. Far from trying
to bash my ladies, (because I am one!), I
feel that it is important to take the time
to acknowledge what you do for each
other. I have found that to look for ways
to ease each other’s lives throughout the
day and to recognize those good deeds is
a way to invest into a much sweeter life
together.
Ladies, think about this for a minute, do
you remember the last time you had to
leave early with the kids and lunches were
already done, ready for departure time?
How about when the clothes ended up in
the dryer from the washer “miraculously”?
Perhaps you received a phone call from
him in the middle of a crazy day that gave
you something to look forward to in the
evening, or that take-out was already at
home after a rough one and you did not
have to prepare dinner. Our men need
acknowledgment and kudos for that, and
no matter how “well” it is all done, it is
still an act of kindness, love, and concern.
They are trying to please us. Showing
them gratitude goes a very long way!
Men, here are some things you may forget
about. Do you stop and think about the
fact that for the most part you are fed,
your clothes are washed and pressed, kids
are cared for all around while you work
the long hours, the bed is made, the
house is together, and you are able to
make the bills as a family because of her
income? Women also need some
acknowledgment for their contributions.
We need support and security, and lots of
loving and tenderness for the things we
do. That encourages us to keep going: this
can be our fuel and that also goes a very
long way.
Here are some quick tips for both to enjoy
on a regular basis:
1. Check on each other daily to know each
other’s needs. That will set the “coming
home at the end of the day” mood. Think
about it, if you know someone cares about
you and checks on you daily to find out
about how you are managing your day,
whether it is going well or not, it makes
for great support that you need and can
use to get you through.
2. Leave the house with having done
something for or said something special
to each other. In our case, even if we had
a disagreement, we still kiss before leaving
the house in the morning. After all, not to
be morbid, we do not know what awaits
us later in the day. Having the kiss as the
last thing that happened before parting is
soothing to the irritation of the argument
and you are able to be calmer about the
whole ordeal as you process it all. You can
also access solutions more easily. If there
were no arguments, then it is a prelude to
a great evening!
3. Help her with some of the chores. As
an example, too often there is emphasis
on how men need to be on time at work,
and how they usually are not the ones
taking off (or coming in later) due to
surprise-events. It goes both ways,
mothers do not always get special
treatment from their employers… If you
take a turn doing the dishes tonight, she
can go take a relaxing shower and be re-
energized for the rest of the evening. You
get the picture, right?
4. Read his mood when he comes home. Is
he in a state where he could not wait to
be home with you (in which case he will
tear right into being present with you and
the family and start contributing to the
evening routine), or does he need a bit of
time to decompress (in which case he will
find the first “alone” location in the house
and hide). From the reaction you get, you
can know how to act accordingly. Give
him space when he needs it, he will
appreciate it; or greet him with open arms
and immerse him in the happenings
around the home.
5. A few nights a week, try to connect.
This is the tough one. Sometimes, for the
ones who have families, it is very hard to
do because by the time you are in bed,
you are too tired to even see straight even
with glasses on… Do your best to talk
about things other than the children. Talk
about a joke you heard today, take the
time to smell her subtle perfume as she
slips next to you in bed and let her know
that you like it, ask about the chapter he
just finished reading, reminisce on
something really good that happened in
the weekend. Anything positive goes. Not
only does that help have a good night’s
sleep, but it also brings intimacy (who
does not want a little of that, tired or
not!)
Life can be a difficult beast to tame.
Sometimes I am not so sure we are able
to get it to settle for long. But would it
not be better to work at it with someone
we trust and love and who returns it all
the same? That beast we just mentioned
sometimes stops raging long enough to
offer a sumptuous ride for two in the
breeze through an enchanted forest. Yes,
just like in the fairy tales….be always there Enjoy it
together!

COULD THIS BE TRUE!!!

A Salvadorean nun who said she had no
idea she was pregnant gave birth in Italy
this week after she felt stomach cramps in
her convent and was rushed to hospital,
Italian media reported on Friday.
The 31-year-old mother and her baby boy,
who weighs 3.5 kilograms (7.7 pounds),
are doing well and other new mothers in
Rieti hospital have begun collecting
clothes and donations for her, the reports
said.
“I did not know I was pregnant. I only felt
a stomach pain,” the nun was quoted as
saying at the hospital, the Italian news
agency ANSA reported.
La Repubblica said she gave birth on
Wednesday.
ANSA said the nun had named her baby
Francesco (Francis) — also the pope’s
chosen title and one of the most popular
names in Italy, where St Francis of Assisi
is the much-loved national patron saint.
The hospital could not be reached for
comment.
The nun belongs to the “Little Disciples of
Jesus” convent in Campomoro near Rieti,
which manages an old people’s home and
reports said she would keep the baby.
Her fellow nuns were quoted saying they
were “very surprised”.
